Manchester United vs Aston Villa used to be a fixture United expected to win. On Saturday 7 November at Old Trafford, they face a Villa side that has just beaten the league leaders — and a United team playing its third huge game in eight days.
Match Information
Fixture: Manchester United vs Aston Villa
Competition: Premier League
Date: Saturday 7 November 2026
Venue: Old Trafford
United arrive after Chelsea away and Roma at home in the Champions League. Villa, meanwhile, come into this full of confidence and with fresher legs.
The Villa Threat
Unai Emery’s side are one of the form teams in the country. They are unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions, and their 2-1 win over Manchester City on 24 October — two goals from Nicolas Jackson — ended City’s perfect start and announced Villa as genuine contenders this season.
Before that came a 1-0 win at Newcastle and a 3-2 win over Tottenham. Villa can grind out narrow wins and hurt teams on the counter, and in Boubacar Kamara and Joao Gomes they have a midfield that protects the defence superbly. There are also two Old Trafford reunions: Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are now Villa players and will be desperate to impress on their old ground.
United Team News
The latest fitness picture for every United player is on our Man Utd injury news page, updated after every press conference. The big questions for Carrick are fatigue and rotation: Chelsea and Roma will have taken a lot out of his starters, and the likes of Mainoo, if fit, could be vital fresh legs here.
Predicted Lineup
GK: Lammens
DEF: Yoro, Maguire, Martinez
MID: Dalot, Baleba, Santos, Amad
ATT: Fernandes, Tielemans
ST: Mbeumo
Expect Carrick to keep the 3-4-2-1 but rotate one or two positions after the European game. Sesko’s fitness, if he is cleared, gives him a different option up front.
Prediction
Villa are the form team and Emery will set up to frustrate and counter. United’s home crowd and need for points should lift them, but tired legs against this Villa side is a dangerous mix.
Prediction: Man Utd 1-1 Aston Villa
